Winter storms have been blasting the UK with tons of snow and freezing weather. It's really been cold here with more ice than actual snow. The kids started school on Tuesday and then were off Wednesday and Thursday because of the icy roads. We may have real snow tomorrow or so they say.
I got a job this week. Cooking lunch at an old people's residential home. It's great because it's only 4 hours a day while the kids are in school so it gets me out of the house for a while. Easiest job I ever got, after a 30 minute interview, I had a job along with 4 weeks paid vacation and double time for working bank holidays. Great!
Frustration on the home searching front has finally set in. The people now living in the house we wanted had trouble with the house they were moving to so we're back to looking for a place to call home. It's so hard because on this little island, we're trying to find a house in a specific area for the kids to stay at the same school. We can still use this address, but don't want anything too far away. Such a pain! Needless to say we're ready to be in our own house once again. I'm trying to stay patient, positive and optimistic, but having trouble with all three. Just bumps in the road I know, but sometimes I feel like I've run over the edge of the cliff!
Hope you are all well, do keep in touch!

Hi! I am finally on here. Congratulations on the job. Those older folks have no idea how lucky they are. We haven't had snow and ice like you, but many days of socked in fog-gray and cold! Sorry to hear that your house hunt is back on. I'm sure something better than you had will come up....at least your job gets you out of the house. Have you started knitting? My knitting is coming along very slowly. I tried to make a square to practice and it turned out to be a trapezoid. Oh well, I'm attempting to make another square. To make myself feel a little more productive I'm thinking of it as a coaster.....we'll see what shape it turns into this time! We miss you!
ReplyDeleteYeah! It's good to hear from you. Thanks, I'm looking forward to starting on Monday - something to occupy a little bit of my day. We haven't had fog since we've been here, that will come. Today when I took Harrison back at lunch time I was pelted by blowing chunks of sleet! It is cold today. Shelby & I are both knitting. I'm working on a scarf, but think I'll make it into a purse for her because it's not coming along fast enough for me. I think I'm going to try some chunky yarn. It's a fun way to pass the time watching TV. Shelby's doing great at it. She's made a purse and is working on little squares too to make a doll blanket. Your coasters sound great ;o) Take care & keep in touch. Thanks for your Christmas card! Miss you too!
