Last weekend, we went on a shopping spree to the nearby island of Herm. Now, Herm has a total of 2 gift shops with basically the same merchandise - sea shells, tea towels, Herm snow globes and fun stuff like that. After we were exhausted from all our shopping we went to the Mermaid Cafe to warm up before taking the boat back with some hot chocolate.
The kids finished school today and are now off for 3 weeks! Harrison sang in his first carol service and Shelby sang and was part of the school nativity play. I'll have to say, it's nice and refreshing to be able to say Merry Christmas instead of being PC with all that Happy Holidays stuff. And Shelby brought home a little Menorah that she made out of clay. Seeing my kids singing actual Christmas carols about Jesus has been a treat this year.
I just thought teachers back home made out at Christmas time - with gift cards and home-made goodies. Teachers here were getting bottles of WINE! I couldn't believe it, kids bringing their teachers bottles of booze! I want to be a teacher ;o) You can't find good CA wine here so I opted for the home-made goodies instead.
We were all jealous of Texas & California getting snow. Well, we may get ours for Christmas or before. Lots of flurries today, mixed in with sleet. Just seeing white stuff fall from the sky was pretty.
I'm happy to say my shopping is done and only a few more things to wrap. I can't believe this time next week will be the big day. Hopefully, you're all taking time to relax and enjoy Christmas time. The kids & I watched A Christmas Story tonight - one of my all time favorite Christmas movies. Have some eggnog for me, we don't have that here ;o(
Merry Christmas!
